One of our breakfast favorites!
Recipe  yields 8 large or 12 small biscuits.

Ingredients

    2 cups flour

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    2 teaspoons sugar

    1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter

    1 cup milk

    (1 cup finely shredded cheese if making Cheesy Biscuits)


Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt.  Make a well in the middle and stir in butter and milk just until moistened.

Optional Step: Add 1 cup of finely shredded cheese to make Cheesy Biscuits

Drop batter on a lightly greased cookie sheet by the tablespoon.

Bake in preheated oven until golden on the edges, about 8 to 12 minutes.

Serve warm.

I love these and had displaced my recipe. We'll have these tomorrow instead of resorting to Bisquick drop biscuits. "Here comes Mel to save the day!"
